Cole Park (Oleander Point)
Corpus Christi, TX

Cole Park runs along Ocean Drive on Corpus Christi Bay, and the south end at Oleander Point has built a real identity of its own as the city's premier windsurfing and kiteboarding launch, hosting the US Windsurfing Open most springs. The state monitors the water here as a swim beach, and locals treat the wide grassy park and the bay water as a package deal, sailing, swimming, and the skate park all in one stop.
A genuine local institution for wind sports with real state recognized swimming water, though periodic bacteria advisories common to urban bay beaches are worth checking before a swim.
How we score beachesAsk locals for Oleander Point specifically rather than just Cole Park. It's technically the same park, but the windsurfing crowd at the south end doesn't think of it as part of the skate park and splash pad scene further north.
Free parking runs along both sides of the park.
Flat, open bayfront park with paved paths connecting the beach, skate park, and splash pad.
Leashed dogs are required in all Corpus Christi parks.
Spring brings the strongest, most consistent wind for windsurfing, while summer is busiest for swimming. Hurricane season runs June through November.
