Dune Allen Beach sits at the quieter western end of 30A, its Regional Beach Access offering lifeguards and public restrooms without the crowds found near Seaside or Grayton Beach further east. Real dune systems back the beach here, part of what locals point to as a more natural feeling stretch of the byway.
The quieter, more natural dune-backed setting is a real point of difference from the busier towns further east on 30A, though the small regional lot means limited backup once it fills.
How we score beachesThis is one of the better 30A spots for anyone traveling with a larger dog, pet-friendly rentals here tend to be more accommodating than the smaller cottages further east. The regional access lot has just over 10 spaces, small enough that a backup plan helps in peak season.

Dogs are allowed on Walton County beaches on a leash, but only during restricted hours (roughly 3:30pm to 8:30am) and only for permit holders who are county residents or property owners.
Spring and fall bring the mildest Panhandle weather and thinner crowds. Summer's heat and hurricane season, June through November, bring the biggest 30A crowds despite the warmest water.
