Follett's Island Beach runs about 13 miles of largely undeveloped Gulf shoreline between Surfside Beach and San Luis Pass, with Brazoria County maintaining a string of numbered access points along the way rather than one formal entrance. Year round camping is allowed right on the sand, and the stretch stays noticeably quieter than the beaches on either end of it.
Thirteen miles of quiet, camping friendly beach between two much busier towns is a genuine find, though the lack of real facilities beyond a seasonal toilet or two means it rewards people who come prepared.
How we score beachesPortable toilets are only set up from April through September at access points one and two, so plan around that window if bathroom access matters for the trip.
There's no dedicated lot for most of the stretch, just street parking near the access points, though the county has built a small ten car lot at one of them.
Access is mostly informal, pulling off the road near a numbered access point onto the sand.
Leashed dogs are allowed on the main beach, and the leash length itself isn't strictly limited.
Summer is the busiest camping season, with Gulf water warming into the mid 80s. Hurricane season runs June through November, and this low lying barrier stretch is especially exposed.
