Gem Island

Gem Island, known locally as Pulau Gemia, is a private island inside a marine conservation park off Terengganu, Malaysia, about five kilometers from the peninsula and a short hop from the more visited Kapas Island. White sand and clear water ring the shore, and the island runs a turtle hatchery program that releases hatchlings back into the sea.
A genuinely protected, low traffic island with a real conservation program behind it, but the single resort and monsoon closure mean it only works within a fairly narrow travel window.
Visit outside the June to September peak if a quieter island is the goal, since most resorts on Gemia and nearby Kapas close entirely from November through February for the monsoon.
There's no independent access. Boats depart from the jetty in Marang for the roughly 15 minute crossing, most often arranged through the island's single resort.
Boats land directly on the beach, and there are no roads or paved paths since the island is small enough to walk around easily.
June through September is the reliable dry season with calm crossings and clear water. Most operators close from November through February when the northeast monsoon brings rough seas to this stretch of coast.

Big boulders break up the shoreline in places, the water stays clear enough to see your feet, and by evening the day trippers have mostly cleared out.
Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is the quieter western shore of Koh Kradan in Trang province, Thailand, a short walk across the island from the long main beach that gets most of the attention. There's less wave action here than on the east side, the swimming stays calmer, and as the name promises it's the spot locals and the handful of resort guests head to for the evening light.
