Green Key Beach

Green Key Beach, officially Robert K. Rees Memorial Park, is the closest thing New Port Richey and neighboring Holiday have to a real sand swim beach along a stretch of Pasco County coastline that's mostly marsh and mangrove. A roped swim area and a small observation tower look out over the Gulf from a 650-foot boardwalk.
It's genuinely the area's real swim beach in a county with few of them, though the small free lot and modest size mean it's more a neighborhood spot than a destination.
How we score beachesCome on a weekday if possible, the free lot is small and fills early on summer weekends. Pavilions and grills are first come, first served, so stake one out shortly after arriving if a group is coming.

Dogs are not allowed at Green Key Beach.
Winter and spring are mild and dry with lighter crowds. Summer brings the warmest water and hurricane season, June through November, along with the year's biggest crowds.
