McGee Beach
Corpus Christi, TX

McGee Beach sits right off Shoreline Boulevard in downtown Corpus Christi, a bay beach close enough to the city's restaurants and hotels that visitors treat it as an extension of a walk downtown rather than a real beach trip. The water stays calm here, protected by the bay, and there's no permit needed to park.
The downtown location is genuinely convenient, but it's a small bay beach best treated as a quick stop rather than a full day out.
How we score beachesThis is the beach to use if you're downtown without a car and just want to dip your feet in the water. It's walkable from most of the hotels along Shoreline.
Free paved parking is available at Park Avenue and Kinney Street off Shoreline Boulevard, with no beach permit required.
A short, flat walk from the parking lots leads straight to the sand.
Leashed dogs are allowed.
Bay water warms through spring and holds into fall, calmer than the Gulf beaches on the island. Hurricane season runs June through November.
