Michael J. Ellis Beach sits along its own stretch of seawall on North Padre Island, sandwiched between Whitecap Beach and Packery Channel, with a paved lot, showers, and lifeguards that make it one of the more developed stops on the island. Wind and chop keep surfers coming back even when the swell elsewhere is inconsistent.
The lifeguards and full facilities make it a dependable, easy beach day, though the holiday dog restriction and its position between two more famous beaches keep it from standing out much on its own.
