Point Comfort Beach
Point Comfort, TX
Point Comfort Beach is a quiet hundred yard stretch of white sand and crushed shell on the east side of Lavaca Bay, easy to miss if you're not specifically looking for it. The relocated Halfmoon Reef Lighthouse sits nearby along Highway 35, a small detour that pairs naturally with a stop at the beach itself.
It's a genuinely peaceful, secluded spot, but the beach itself is small and easy to overlook without the lighthouse next door giving people a reason to stop.
How we score beachesCombine the beach with the lighthouse and the Calhoun County Museum a short drive away. None of the three takes long on its own, but together they make a good half day.
Parking is available near the lighthouse grounds, with restrooms at the adjacent visitor center.
Flat, easy access from the parking area, with wheelchair accessible facilities at the lighthouse grounds nearby.
Bay water warms through spring and holds into fall, calmer than the open Gulf. Hurricane season runs June through November.
