Santa Rosa Beach anchors the western stretch of Scenic Highway 30A, with the Ed Walline Regional Beach Access as one of the area's most complete public entry points among the 50 access points along the 26-mile byway. It's a more low-key base than the postcard planned towns further east.

The Ed Walline access is one of the more complete public entry points on 30A, though timing a visit around the 9am parking rush is a real necessity in summer.

How we score beaches
Local Tip

Arrive before 9am in summer for a real shot at parking at the popular regional accesses, though smaller neighborhood access points often still have room even when the big lots fill. Leash laws vary by community along 30A, so check signage at whichever access point is used.

Parking

Regional beach access parking is free, with restrooms, showers, and bike racks; several access points are ADA accessible.

Accessibility

Regional access points have dune walkovers and are generally ADA accessible.

Pets

Generally pet-friendly, though leash requirements vary by community; check signage at the specific access point.

Weather & the best time to visit

Spring and fall bring the mildest Panhandle weather and thinner crowds. Summer's heat and hurricane season, June through November, bring the biggest 30A crowds despite the warmest water.
