Dogs are allowed on a leash no longer than six feet on Sea Rim State Park's beach, though not in the designated swimming area.
This upper Texas coast marsh sees its worst mosquito activity in the hot, humid months, roughly May through September, so many birders prefer a cooler, less buggy visit in fall or winter. Hurricane season overlaps most of the warm season too, June through November.
