Sugar Beach

Sugar Beach runs for about a kilometer just north of Sipalay in Negros Occidental, the Philippines, its sand a distinctive brownish tan rather than the white found elsewhere in the region. The water stays calm and shallow thanks to the shape of the bay, and a small entrance fee keeps the crowd noticeably thinner than at more famous Philippine beaches.
Calm, soft water and a real sense of remoteness for a beach that's this pretty, though the entrance fee and limited transport options mean it stays a deliberate trip rather than a casual one.
The fastest route in is through Bacolod rather than trying to come straight from Dumaguete, even though the map makes the southern route look shorter.
Most visitors arrive by bus or van from Bacolod's South Bus Terminal to Sipalay, then a short tricycle ride or boat transfer to the beach itself, since there's no direct road access to some of the resorts.
The beach is flat and easy underfoot with a low key strip of small resorts right along the sand, no stairs or hikes involved.
The dry season from roughly November through May is calmer and sunnier, while the wetter months from June through October bring more rain but also fewer crowds, since Sipalay still isn't heavily touristed.

Sunset Beach is the quieter western shore of Koh Kradan in Trang province, Thailand, a short walk across the island from the long main beach that gets most of the attention. There's less wave action here than on the east side, the swimming stays calmer, and as the name promises it's the spot locals and the handful of resort guests head to for the evening light.
