Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach sits on the western coast of Koh Rong Samloem, Cambodia, reached by a roughly 30 minute jungle trek across the island from the main pier. The beach faces open water toward the horizon, living up to its name at the end of the day, and the snorkeling just offshore is some of the better reef access on the island.
A real payoff for the trek, with good snorkeling and genuine isolation, but development hasn't caught up to the west coast yet, so anyone expecting facilities should adjust expectations.
Time the crossing so you arrive with enough daylight left before sunset. The jungle trail isn't lit, and doing it after dark isn't worth the risk of a wrong turn.
There's no vehicle or direct boat access to this side of the island. Ferries from Sihanoukville land on the east side, and the only way to Sunset Beach from there is on foot across the island.
The trail across the island is uneven jungle terrain, not suited to strollers or anyone with mobility limitations, though the beach itself is flat sand once you arrive.
The dry season from November through April is calmer for both the ferry crossing to the island and the snorkeling conditions offshore. The wet season from May through October brings rougher seas and more rain.

Sanom Beach

Sanom Beach sits at the far southern end of Pattaya Beach on Koh Lipe, Thailand, reached by a wooden walkway over the rocks once the main beach runs out. Bamboo Bay, also called Ao Mai Phai, is the last beach before Koh Lanta's national park boundary, a two kilometer curve of sand at the island's southern tip in Krabi province, Thailand. Big boulders break up the shoreline in places, the water stays clear enough to see your feet, and by evening the day trippers have mostly cleared out.
Sunset Beach

Sunset Beach is the quieter western shore of Koh Kradan in Trang province, Thailand, a short walk across the island from the long main beach that gets most of the attention. There's less wave action here than on the east side, the swimming stays calmer, and as the name promises it's the spot locals and the handful of resort guests head to for the evening light.
