Venice Marina and Cypress Cove Launches
Venice, LA
Venice sits at the end of Louisiana Highway 23, about 77 miles south of New Orleans, and locals call it the end of the world. Two marinas, Cypress Cove and Venice Marina, run back down ramps into the lower Mississippi, with the delta passes, offshore rigs, and some of the Gulf's best fishing a short run away. There's no beach here, just the river and the boats.
Locals and anglers drive 77 miles of two lane road for the fishing, and the services are real, but it's a long drive to a place with no beach and hurricane risk.
How we score beachesCypress Cove does not charge for the ramp, and both marinas sell fuel and bait. Book a guide if you've never run the passes, since the delta's channels shift and look alike.
Trailer parking is at each marina, with no ramp charge at Cypress Cove. Venice Marina's launch is a short drive south of it.
Back down concrete ramps with docks, fuel, and restaurants on site, though the surrounding area is flat and exposed.
Fishing runs year round, and spring and fall are the most comfortable. Venice has been hit hard by Camille, Katrina, and Ida, so hurricane season, June through November, shapes any plan.
This isn't one entrance, it's a stretch with a few. Here's where locals actually meet up.
